The government spends $294m to restore and expand 34 roads in Sihanoukville
A common issue in Sihanoukville used to be that there was a lack of great, modern roads. Roads in Sihanoukville used to be narrow and small, causing traffic jams and overall harm to the whole atmosphere of this beautiful city.
Tourists weren’t so interested in visiting Sihanoukville since it was difficult getting there. That’s where the Cambodian government came into place and changed the whole situation.
The Cambodian government has decided to improve the infrastructure of Sihanoukville to make it a much better city by building 34 new roads.
The 34 roads will have a total length of 84km with three roundabouts, and six bridges.
The project started to be built last year in November, and the estimated completion is at the beginning of July 2020. Since everything is going perfectly, we expect the companies that create these roads to hit the planned deadline.
The $76 million ring road
The government has already started to build a road for heavy transport linking Sihanoukville’s deep seaport. It changes the whole situation by making the port more accessible, which ultimately helps the entire economy of Sihanoukville. The road is expected to be finished in less than 28 months and will be 43 km long.
What does it mean specifically for Sihanoukville?
Because of the already mentioned problems with roads, Sihanoukville hasn’t always been an attractive destination both to tourists and real estate developers.
BUT things are getting better.
Not only will the Sihanoukville road construction help the logistics when it comes to transporting goods to port, but it will ease the overall transportation, ultimately making Sihanoukville a top tourist destination over the next couple of years.
It will make Sihanoukville accessible and modern, and with these features, we expect to see a significant rise in already mentioned tourism and even more investments in properties and property development.
The rise of Sihanoukville real estate development
Building roads isn’t the only thing that is money being spent on. In 2018 alone, the city has attracted $1 billion in construction projects and in 2019 another $1bilion.
One of these real estate developers in Sihanoukville is LZ Sea View Residences.
